How is Renewal Gynecology different from general gynecologic care?

 

 

Renewal Gynecology is a specialized practice focused on cosmetic gynecology, regenerative sexual wellness, and hormone optimization. This practice offers a growing specialty that is not readily available in Northern California or Southern Oregon.

Renewal Gynecology exists to offer services that require more time, privacy, and depth than are typically possible in an insurance-based clinic setting. This separation allows us to provide high-quality care in both spaces without compromise.

Do you provide Pap smears, birth control, or routine exams at Renewal Gynecology?

 

 

No. General gynecologic services (such as Pap smears, STI testing, and treatment of conditions such as endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, fibroids, ovarian cysts, PCOS) are provided through Open Door Community Health Centers in Arcata, CA. We do not provide prenatal care or obstetric services.

• Cosmetic and functional gynecology: labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, perineoplasty, non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation

• Regenerative therapies (PRP, nanofat): sexual function, labial plumping, tissue remodeling

What is PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy?

​

A small blood sample is processed to concentrate the platelets, which are then applied to targeted areas. Patients often pursue PRP for improvements in sexual function and sensation, increased natural lubrication, reduction in pain or discomfort, and a more youthful, plump aesthetic appearance. What is PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) therapy?

This slower, sustained release can support longer-lasting tissue regeneration. Like PRP, PRF is used to address sexual function and sensation, improve moisture and reduce pain, and enhance aesthetic appearance through natural plumping. PRF is a great option for patients looking for a more gradual, sustained treatment course.

What's the difference between PRP and PRF?

Both use your body's own platelets to encourage healing and regeneration, but they differ in how the platelets are processed and how the growth factors are released. PRP delivers a concentrated, faster release of growth factors, while PRF releases growth factors more slowly over a longer period. Dr. Micks or Dr. Hackett can help determine which option — or combination — best fits your goals during a consultation.

Do you take insurance?

 

 

No. Renewal Gynecology is a cash-pay practice.

 

This model allows us to:

 

• spend more time with each patient

• provide transparent pricing

• offer services not covered by insurance

• avoid rushed visits and billing constraints

 

 

We believe this model allows for better care in this highly personal area of women’s health.

We do however offer financing through our partners with Cherry and CareCredit.

We also offer telehealth care for initial consultations, to avoid the need to travel prior to procedure.

Why did you choose a cash-pay model?

 

 

Many services we offer—such as cosmetic gynecology (labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, RF/CO2 Laser treatments etc), PRP, nanofat, and extended consultations—are not covered by insurance.
